DENVER (Reuters) - A United Airlines passenger who allegedly tried to
open an aircraft door in mid-flight was charged by federal agents
Thursday with intimidating airline crew. The FBI charged Titan Tibor
Sallai after United Flight 1796 en route from Las Vegas to Dulles
International Airport near Washington, D.C. was diverted Wednesday to
Denver International Airport. Sallai was in custody after appearing
before a District Court magistrate. FBI Agent Michael Mench said crew
members restrained Sallai from opening an exterior door of the
aircraft and from entering the cockpit. Mench gave no explanation for
Sallai's actions, but reported that he also had tried to drink
contact lens cleaning fluid. See
