Just a comment about air rage and culture. Perhaps we are alienating our
customers from different cultures that demand respect for their position in
society. I had a flight that I almost landed short on because the (male)
purser said he had an unruly (middle eastern) passenger who was demanding
to see the Captain about the treatment he was receiving. The problem was
solved by having a female flight attendant serve him and smooth this
feathers. After landing I talked to the passenger and could see that from
his point of view he had been insulted by a person who was a "servant".
While western culture doesn't accept this type of hierarchy it is common
elsewhere.
