Your email couldn't have been more aptly timed! I have been working with
senior ATC trainers at a level 5 facility here in the northeast. They are
working with a trainee who is highly resistant to any critical input during
debrief sessions. This trainee always has a rationalization for mistakes, and
they always consist of blaming someone else, most often, the pilots involved.
I have taken the liberty of copying your email with the quote from your
commander to the training staff because I think it covers all of the issues
they are facing. Thanks for sharing!
At some point I would like to post to the group the experiences we have had
with this trainee, as I find many of the issues we have faced to be similar to
an earlier discussion that centered around a "rogue" pilot....I guess in this
case we have a "rogue" controller.
