Greetings from the New York TRACON!

My apologies in advance for broaching this decidely off-topic subject, but
I'm flush with the rush of re-discovering the obvious.

During a series of earnest conversations with my collegues about problems
with ATC and the seemingly fruitless search for a cure for Operational
Errorintitus (Frangible Metallury), a lost memory fragment bubbled to the
surface of my conscience: The Buddy System. "Don't Go Into The Water
Alone!"

As much as I hate "Bumper Sticker Sloganism" as the next voter, you've got
to admit, when a concept that was drilled into you from the time you were
five years old (reinforced by haunting memories of ice blue toes and
shivers that'll have you diving under the covers in 95 degree weather) is
transferable to such CRM/technologically challenging endevors as aviation,
naval warfare, fire fighting, SWAT Teams, and midnight hotel pool
exploration, you've got to believe you're on to something.

Rock simple, fundamentally sound. Of course, the Devil's in the Details,
but that's why we're all here - to find "Common Sense" solutions (and
explanations) to deadly serious problems.

Thank you for your time. Now back to your regularly scheduled list
topic....
