The danger of having lots of aircraft with similar callsigns flying in the
same airspace is well known. To alleviate the problem, our airline wants to
apply new callsigns to its flights.
At this moment for example *Barnburner 603* and *Barnburner 613* depart the
same airport around the same time towards the same direction.
We are reviewing a scheme to add letters to the callsigns so as to have
*Barnburner 603 November* and Barnburner 613 Mike* in the future.
Questions:
Did anyone study the problem of similar callsigns and studied possible
solutions?
What are *similar callsigns* that are most likely to foster ATC confusion?
To someone at Eurocontrol: what are the reserved letters (we can not use)?
Kind regards,
Andre Berger
