Hi Lynne,
I've already checked with Pat King at CAA, who handles all the
registrations. She didn't have anything under Martin or Aberdeen, but
you're welcome to talk to her about it: 01293-573488. I thought I'd
attached a programme flyer - forgive me if I forgot to, another is attach=
ed
(PROG1709.TXT). The provisional booking in Rhona's name will remain open=
until the conference starts.
Regards,
Rick.

LOFT Scenario Development - =0D
from Tabletop to Flight Simulator=0D
=0D
17th September 1997=0D
10:00 - 16:00=0D
=0D
Hosted by CAA Gatwick=0D
Aviation House, Gatwick South Area=0D
=0D
A Miniconference presented by the Human Factors Group=0D
of the Royal Aeronautical Society=0D
=0D
Conference Objectives=0D
LOFT - Line Oriented Flight Training - was recognised as a key component =
=0D
of CRM training as early as 1986. It offers aircrew a unique chance to =0D=
develop CRM skills under line conditions. LOFT has been repeatedly cited=
=0D
by pilots as a significant factor in avoiding accidents and reducing the =
=0D
severity of crashes.=0D
=0D
The increased use of LOFT/LOS has brought new developments in LOFT scenar=
io =0D
scripting and implementation - for example, event sets and behaviour mark=
er =0D
integration for more focussed and accurate facilitation.=0D
=0D
This conference looks at the construction of LOFT scenarios for maximum =0D=
training benefit and at the use of various forms of LOFT and LOFT-like =0D=
exercises. In particular the day covers the use of FTDs, generic simula=
tors =0D
and other devices which allow operators without FFS access to conduct LOF=
T =0D
exercises using reduced fidelity devices or techniques (ref CAA AIC 37/19=
95 p.2 note 3).=0D
=0D
The conference also looks at the aims behind LOFT - the crew coordination=
and =0D
communication skills which define successful flight deck teams - and how =
they =0D
can be taught and reinforced in the classroom (using table-top trainers o=
r =0D
exercises) or flight deck. Debrief systems will also be discussed from b=
oth =0D
supplier and user perspectives.=0D
=0D
The conference should be particularly useful for CRM programme developers=
, =0D
T/IREs, facilitators and others who seek a clearer understanding of how C=
RM =0D
theory can be reinforced in line-simulated conditions.=0D
=0D
