I think Elias has summed up the issue nicely:
To the extent that a marriage/partnership is like a successful team, and
the communication channels are still open, then such a combination would be
surely be a good thing. But as Don T. said "there aren't enough of them
that actually fly together to do research on either."

Sorry to hear rules of separation are being enforced without good reason.

P.S. I only realized after I posted the last email that pilots might think
I was having a go at them, what with all the jokes about pilots and divorce
and all.... oops, sorry about that, no malice intended :)
