Your project sounds very interesting and useful. Personally, such data
would be most valuable to me for building LOS/LOFT scenarios and developing
case studies. Finding good situations for these purposes is a never-ending
task for the CRM course developer.
Separately, I have an interest in the time lags between when conditions
requiring a decision are first manifested, when a decision is made, and
when the results of the decision (good or bad) are evident. I don't know
if the data set represented in your data base allows those determinations,
but if it does, I would find them very useful.
Best,
Neil
>Hello! I am a student working with Dr. Judith Orasanu at the NASA-Ames
>Research Center. I am currently in the process of resurrecting a database
>of 242 "typical decisions" that led to ASRS incident reports. The
>decisions were selected and coded in 1993, and the database contains lots
>of information about the type of decision, precipitating events, type of
>aircraft, flight phases, cues, actions, options, considerations, etc., as
>well as lots of categories that all of these different pieces have been fit
>into. What I am trying to do is re-organize the database so that it is
>more user-friendly and can be used by more people in a broader number of
>ways. I am looking for input from all of you as to what sorts of things
>you would like to see a database like this be able to do. With respect to
>scenario generation, statistics, general research, anything. I am
>developing the database in Microsoft Access 97, so anyone familiar with
>this software is especially encouraged to respond. This database could be
>a great tool for you all to use, if it does what you want it to, and now is
>the time to make sure that happens! Thank you very much.
