Jeff,

Neil Johnston, a767 ER captain and training manager for Aer Lingus, is one
of the worlds leading experts in ab initio training. Every pilot at Aer
Lingus is an ab initio pilot so he has considerable experience in this
field. Neil has written extensively on ab initio as well as other aviation
training topics. I would highly recommend that you read as much of his
literature as you can possibly obtain. He has published papers in the Ohio
State Proceedings as well as proceedings of the Western European
Association of Aviation Psychologists. I am certain you will find some
citations for him in the bookstore.

Best Regards,

Fellow Aviation Professionals

You or one of your colleagues may be interested in collaborating with me on

a unique training syllabus that I am developing for ab initio pilots. The

program will provide simulated experiences reflecting various aspects of
airline operations. College students will be interviewed, build, and
facilitate their own airline. CRM principles and SOPs will be practiced
during LOFT sessions in year two.

The program is a new undertaking whose goals include improving flight
safety and shortening the transition between flight school and air carrier.

It is hoped that you the industry experts will provide the synergy needed
to make these fundamental improvements.

Obviously, your participation is essential in choosing the CRM curriculum.
May I ask for your comments on the Transport Canada material that is
available at this site, or on similar courses that I may implement?

I look forward to your responses either at the site or directly.

Cheers!!!
