At Western Michigan University we developed and implemented an ab initio
curriculum after surveying industry to determine the competencies that
should be included. We asked the basic question -- If you could develop
a curriclum from the ground up what would it look like? The curriclum
includes developing competencies in the following areas from the
beginning:

Technical proficiencies
Interpersonnel/CRM skills
Leadership/followership skills
Computer literacy
Global perspective
Automation management
Environmental awareness
Business focus

Behavioral markers were developed and CRM skills are evaluated on each
training flight with equal emphasis with technical proficiencies.

LOFT scenarios flown in simulators are video taped and facilitated using
the CRM markers that were developed. I would be happy to provide a copy
of the course listing and/or the Technical/CRM evaluation sheet. We
currently have approx 500 students enrolled in this curriculum. We also
deliver a UK CAA approved CAP 509 curriculum in which CRM skills are
evaluated form the beginning.
