Perhaps they do need the catastropic videos to alert them to the real
risks. Mt point is that fear as a motivational component has limited use.
Most people do not really have an awareness of what a crash is really like.
They have not experienced it. The awareness of what a crash is like is an
imagined experience for the most part. It's not like the learning we have in
our memories of hitting our thumb with a hammer, or banging our head on an
open cabinet door. Those real experiences provide single trial learning that
we never forget...experience. But how do you establish that with an event
that is witnessed through video. The impact is there but it's not the same.
But videos sure beat the alternative...
