ICAO had a video about volcanic ash (ICAO Ref #V703) with impressive aerial
footage of eruptions and ash clouds; summary of problem - location of
active volcanos near intl. routes (Pacific ring of fire), ash description
and unusual characteristics (e.g. radar transparent), and an interview with
Capt. Eric Moody following his 4-engine flameout and last-minute relight
about 20,000 feet later near Kuala Lumphur. Positive CRM aspects include
successful use of flight planning by Alaska Airways following Mt. Rainier
eruption. For only US$55 it's not a bad deal.
