We have recently completed a major study of LOFT debriefings at 5 major
airlines. We are now editing the technical report for publication, and i
will be happy to put your name on the mailing list if you like. We found
that all instructors attempted to facilitate crew participation in these
debriefings, however the instructors' effectiveness ranged from very good
to poor. Most crews were responsive, but reactive rather than proactive.
The discussions revolved around the instructors--in no case were the
debriefings led by the captain.
