As the web site nears completion, everyone will be able to read the original
charter of the Industry CRM developer's group.
One of our objectives is to identify common development needs, then form a tiger
team (no more than 8 people with balanced representation from industry and
research) to develop a product or a prototype. As the tiger team progresses
through their development, they will periodically offer an open invite for
comments from the group-at-large. Once they receive feedback, they will then
shut the door and go back to developing as a small group. I have found that it
is too difficult to develop anything if there are more than about 8 people
involved.
I see the discussions on the listserver being the medium for identifying common
challenges and product needs (the journey). Once there are enough folks who
have a common development need, we form a tiger team and progress toward
creating a product or prototype. The product or prototype is the goal
(destination) of a tiger team. The goal of the larger Industry CRM developer's
group is to coordinate our collective resources to solve development challenges.
Realizing the goal of the industry developer's group is both a journey and a
destination.
If you have something that you need to create... perhaps someone else in the
group has a similar need. My experience has been that there are a lot of people
who are content with discussing the lofty goals, historical perspectives, and
weighty issues of CRM/ Human Factors. There are far fewer, however, who are
willing to roll up their sleeves and translate the theoretical into something
practical. It is my hope that the folks who read this message have a practical
development orientation and use this medium to further their development.
