I would like to respectfully disagree that "aircrew response" is a start.
I feel that is it a *bad* place to start because the validity of such data
is highly suspect.
Anytime a person has some reason to believe that their job is on the line
(whether true or not) they are going to give the politically correct
answer. Pilots have years of experience giving the "politically correct"
answers during check rides, exams, etc. Why would one expect anything
different with CRM.
As a matter of fact, I would argue that it is a bad place to start. These
"temporary" measures always seem to stick around for a LONG time -
particularly wwhen the generate the desired answers. Tempoary measures
begin to get a certain face validity just because they are used by all the
"right people." As such, they are used without thought by may people who
treat the results with much more respect than they deserve!
And since they are generating the "answer" that people want, there is
little reason for someone to try to develop a valid measure!
