Good Afternoon CRMers -

Last week I attended the Civil Aviation Training Conference (CATC) held
in Dallas. Thought I might file a quick report on my impressions.

This conference was organized by the National Training Systems
Association (http://www.trainingsystems.org/) who also do the ITEC
conference, and was sponsored by American Airlines. It was held at the
Hyatt hotel at DFW Airport. I estimate that about 125 people attended.
In addition to presentations, there was also an exhibit area. Most
exhibits were by training equipment manufacturers.

The presentations covered a wide range of industry representatives
including FAA, NTSB, major and regional airline training departments,
third party training centers, international carriers, and training
equipment manufacturers. Gary Grubbs gave a nice presentation on CRM,
while many others focused on AQP, simulation, ab initio training and
other aspects of the industry. Proceedings were distributed at the
meeting.

One of the refreshing aspects of this meeting was that the presenters
and audience were a little different than the ones you get at the
ATA-sponsored events, so I got to make some new connections. I look
forward to next year's conference.

Best regards,
Neil Krey
