Rebecca,

I would like to suggest the area of threat recognition and avoidance
as a possible topic for training research. So many accidents involve
pilots flying into conditions and situations that cause most of us to
wonder how they let themselves continue into the situation.
Are pilots sometimes missing something - some clue, indication,
realization that the situation ahead is hazardous?
What can we incorproate into training programs from the very earliest
stages to help pilots better assess threats and risks?

A second area might be research to find effective ways of
incorporating CRM into general aviation operations and training.
Better CRM in GA would be beneficial in itself, but also help better
prepare young pilots who aspire to commercial flying careers.
