Thanks for your light hearted approach to a very valid concern! I'm
sure that you speak for others as well. I, for one, can make a small
contribution by putting together a glossary of terms and making it
part of the group's Web site (send you suggestions and contributions
to me), but all of us need to be sensitive to the use of acronyms and
jargon in our posts.
All of the terms you have questioned are in daily use in the airline
training industry in the USA. That does not automatically make them
clear and understandable to all of the subscribers we have around the
world (and we have a significant percentage of non-US members in this
group). I'm not sure how we arrive at a common terminology which is
useful and understood world-wide. In some cases, we are simply
learning new terms which ARE in common use but that WE have not been
exposed to. To me, that is one of the benefits of this mailing list.
Any ideas?
