Hi CRMers!

Now that I have finished version 1.0 of the CRM Developers web site I
should have some time to join in the discussions. :-)

My wish list is for the following:

1. Develop the next generation of event set methodology. The current
event set approach tends to be rather linear in the way that events
are introduced during the LOS flight. Some suggest that we can design
"lego block" event sets that can be strung together to form LOFT/LOE
sessions. This does not accurately represent the non-linear way in
which events occur in the real world, and tends to drive us into using
the simulator in rather simplistic ways. Most sims have a tremendous
amount of capability to create dynamic, complex environments. The
ability to bring out the behavior we seek (which is also dynamic and
complex) requires that we utilize a far broader spectrum of the sim's
features to construct an environment in which the crew can participate
in an utterly personal experience.

2. Explore ways enhance instructor skills. Most instructor
development programs focus on enhancing the instructor's technical
knowledge and making them better presenters. While depth of technical
knowledge is important, the key skill is not presentation, but the
ability to create an environment in which a crew can learn from the
personal experiences I mentioned above. Today we call that skill
facilitation, but I think it may actually go beyond that label.

3. Look at the use of "low fidelity simulation" as an environment for
training CRM/HF. Sim time is so valuable that we don't allow our
crews to explore and try new approaches. Perhaps our technology has
reached the point where we can give them that opportunity. Even
without technology, there are probably ways in which a classroom
exercise can be conducted to become a believable simulation which
brings out true team behavior.
