Good morning CRMers!

This was sent directly to me and I am forwarding it to be included in
the discussion.

Neil,

I've been perusing the CRM discussions for a while and don't know if
this is the right type of forum for something like this, but since you
asked...!
I'm one of two people in the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) working on
developing CRM courses for all of our aircrews, fighter and heavy alike.
I generated a single seat version of Crew Resource Management (Cockpit
Resource Management) last winter for the F-15 community on Okinawa, and
it has actually been well received by almost everyone. Obviously, most
fighter pilots don't see how something like CRM can apply to them (they
have no crew!), but once they see that Rapcon, ATC, AWACS, GCI, and
especially other flight members can all have important pieces of
information, it becomes clear that CRM does have something to offer.
What I would like to hear about from other CRM developers out there is
what they use for "team building" exercises. I've got the old "you're
stranded in a life raft with the following equipment..." and "wingmen,
what is important for your flight lead to do (not do) and Flight Leads,
what's important for your wingmen to do (not do)." I've got a few videos
showing a lack of teamwork and relate some mishaps showing the same.
Does anyone have newer exercises? From my personal experience as a
pilot (T-38 FAIP and C-141 Instructor) and as a physiologist, the CRM
trainees always get the most of out exercises which demonstrate the
concepts, vs. listening to lectures or even group discussions. What's
out there?
