JJ,
Fortunately, it isn't standard, but around 1/2 of the rating rides my
students have gone up for in the last few years have been conducted in
that archaic manner. Other feds have simply been satisfied with using
normal company procedures.
I guess 1/2 is an improvement; as you said, at one time all rating rides
were conducted without using the crew concept.
