Hi! I think you might be talking about the movie "The High and Mighty".

You mention this movie is "a good example of the ultimate in poor CRM" In
the case of the Captian I would agree, but I would caution you to consider
the concept of "Command and Control". Sure John Wayne stood up and smacked
the Captain (Robert Stack) and took control of the airplane, but he never
took command of the airplane or crew. This is evident when Robert Stack
lokked over at John Wayne a few moments later and said he was fine now and
would take the airplane back. Without hesitation, John Wayne gave control
of the airplane back to Stack, acknowledging he never assumed command of
the crew or airplane..
