Hello,
Our CRM group at Air Canada is just finishing up a 1998 CRM update. What I
thought would be important research is to use the NTSB Safety Study of
flight crew involved accidents 1978-1990 with recent accidents (ie.
1990-1998) Ben Burman (he is on this site) was involved in the research
etc. Using his parameters and data is there an improvement in CRM skills in
this later period?
My bet is that FAO-The General Accounting Office would be interested in
this research.
If you could add the Boeing research on Accident Prevention Strategies
(Paul Russell) to see if there are correlation's in the suggested
strategies and the new data. (i.e. Where is CRM working and where do we
need to improve).
Finally use error management as a core strategy for safety. This is what
our course revolves around. However there wasn't recent global analysis
based on electronic aircraft so we had to dig into individual accident
reports. Thus our analysis needs to be researched on a broader base.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me.
