Yes indeed, I agree completely! learning about safety and safer practices
through shared discussions...sounds like an objective of CRM to me...
This project - deciding what could go on the web (not just static CBT, but
web -based with its various capabilities for communication, including
teleconferencing) is proving to be quite interesting. The first thing we
are going to test is the effectiveness of teleconferencing for facilitated
discussion (everyone has a camera and microphone, and images of other
participants appear on the computer screen....let's not get into
bandwidth/speed/economy/ issues for now) . I am certainly dubious of the
effectiveness of such communication, but like a good scientist ;-) I'm
willing to give it a try. Nothing like a good experimental trial to
establish the answer - like John Bent has often said, "without data, you're
just another jerk with an opinion".
I must admit though, I do like the idea of leaving the classroom and the
powerpoint slides behind and starting with a whole new medium, and seeing
what it can do. What are its limits, what are its benefits? Who could use
it? E.g., If facilitated discussion is not possible, does that mean that
CRM can not be adapted to the web? Does that mean then that CRM is simply
facilitated discussion? hmmm... just thinkin'
