Landed at night in poor visibility more than halfway down the 6000
foot runway at an airspeed of 200 kts. Ran off the end!
Airplane departed the runway during crosswind landing...came back
onto the runway and tookoff....proceeded to the alternate with flat tire and
gear damage.
To avoid a rainshower near the approach end of the runway, the pilot
turned on final over the end of the runway, landed 2/3 of the way down and
proceeded to the nearest reef in the ocean off the end of the runway to
allow quick access to the surf for passenger entertainment.
Landed short of the runway while maintaining very low VASI glide
path due to the short runway...wiped off the gear and slid to a stop on the
runway. No ladder or steps required for exit. (several instances of this)
Landed long and fast due to high final and late
configuration...departed end of runway.
There are a lot of stories involved in the landing accidents but most are
associated with fast airspeed on final, high on glideslope finals, long
landings while trying to bleed off the airspeed and cross wind landings
especially on wet runways.
Some of these cases were especially CRM noteworthy in that the co-pilot told
the Capt not to land or to goaround due to bad position, airspeed, etc.
only to be told that the Capt had everything under control...and to stop
whimpering.
This is depressing...I am going to have to stop.
