Can CRM training be done through distance learning on the net? Not Human
Factors knowledge, that would be possible I believe, but CRM awareness
and/or refresher training which is traditionally conducted in classrooms
with groups of 6-12 participants. (try to ignore economic issues for now)
There seems to be an inherent assumption in the existing model that
facilitated group discussions and face to face interactions are essential
to the process. But it seems to be an assumption we have always worked
with.... can anyone give me the reasoning behind this? (don't get me wrong,
this is how I do the training currently, and intuitively it makes sense,
but must it be this way or can it take other forms?). The FAA advisory
circular and the JAR-OPS provide no insight on this issue.
Also, what if the network included teleconferencing (cameras, microphones)
which allowed virtual group work, with a facilitator plugged in, looking
on, and helping out. I guess my question is - Is group work essential to
the process, and if so, must it be in real time in one place? Your
comments to the board or me directly would be most appreciated.
