We have had a similar problem on a couple of checkrides where the check
airman felt they would not be able to conduct the normal line first
officers skills with the CRM restrictions the inspectors wanted to put on
the ride. In these cases the check airman expressed their concern to the
inspector and then call our Director of Flight Standards and Training. He
assured them they were doing the right thing but to be carefull about
drawing the line between good CRM and coaching someone through a ride. He
then also spoke with the inspectors and explained our way of looking at and
using CRM. Once he did so the rides were conducted and the students
passed. In addition the Director contacted our POI to make him aware of
the problem and that we thought the positive use of CRM was very important
in our program.
