No -- I wasn't aware of any initiative to re-write the guidance.
If I recall correctly, the original document was the product of an group
comprised of FAA, representatives from several ATA carriers, and several
representatives from the research community. Given that precedent, I am
surprised to hear that the same approach is not being used for a
re-write of the guidance document.
Do you have any more information -- who sanctioned/directed the
revision, who is involved in the re-write effort, is there any plan for
industry input, etc.? If it is a chapter of the AQP guidance, then
there's a good chance that Dr. Tom Longridge may be the FAA's point man
on the project.
Vince, as you indicated, the original CRM guidance was not perfect and
an intiative to improve it is certainly not out of order. My
hope/expectation would be that any effort to draft a revision to this
document would be expected to undergo a careful review by the HF/CRM
program developers from across the industry before it's
adopted/implemented.
