Bob,

The title of your post -- Advanced Technologies -- would seem to
encompass the full range of advancements. Your text was, however,
limited to HUD.

If you need information relating to the training of pilots in the use of
HUD, I might suggest you contact military sources on this forum and
elsewhere. The HUD is used extensively in most of the recently developed
fighter aircraft, and is taught to pilots who may be quite new to flying
as well as "old heads" who are transitioning from less advanced
machines.

Because the majority of pilots hired by US 121 operators are usually
quite experienced, their curricula for qualifying crews to use the HUD
may or may not suitable for your purposes. Having said that, I would
still urge you to examine the programs offered by those airlines that
are using HUD in order to make your own determination.

At the present, Alaska, Horizon and Southwest are (I believe) the only
US airlines that are currently using HUD. I have heard that several
other carriers are considering HUD for their operatons, but don't know
of any that have actually made that decision.

If I can be of further help on this, please let me know.

Pete
