One of the programs that deals with less than sterling behavior in the
airline business is the ALPA Professional Standards Committee. Pro Stan is
a group of peer mediators who have as a primary goal resolving disputes
between pilots at the lowest possible level in a confidential manner.
These disputes can crop up on the line for a variet;y of reasons. While
the committees have no enforcement power, they do a pretty good job of jaw
boning. Flight Managers, if they become aware of a dispute, often give
pilots the chance to resolve problems through their Pro Stan committees.
Peer pressure is very effective. Unfortunately it is not always
successful. An inability to work with the peer group is certainly a red
flag for a Flight Manager.

I know you want some juicy stories to use as case studies but the
confidentiality would have to be waved by the people involved. Cliff
Waters at NW is the national chair and might be able to help you with some
generic cases they use for training.
