Hello CRM Folks,

This is my first post since OSU. I had a great time and learned much from
you all. Thank You!

I would like to say that the thoughts on followership are familiar ground to
me. My career has seen the scope from Captain to SO to FO and again to
Captain. My organization uses the method of crewing aircraft with all
Captains. That is using a Captain to perform FO duties on any given trip.
There are 24 of us, so there is no bidding off the trip. In fact the crews
see each other just about every duty day. Followership takes on a new
meaning when you perform as a Captain one day and an FO the next.

Training followership methodology is important. Skills can be trained. I am
not convinced that attitudes can. I have found that ATTITUDE has the greatest
impact on one's performance in the SIC role. Corporate culture and it's view
of the Captain's authority shape crew attitudes. I think these continually
instilled beliefs and attitudes have a longer lasting positive effect than
training alone. It appears that First Officer everything missed something
along the way.

Thanks

John Baker
