Thanks for the input re assertive behaviour. However, perhaps this is
an example of what not to do. There is no information about the actual
landing situation, which for all we know could have been safe in
everyone's view except that of the copilot. The go round sounds
decidedly unsafe to me. Good CRM calls for appropriate assertive
behaviour, but more than anything, it calls for a crew working together.
Captains may not always be right, but a copilot, with less experience,
that thinks they are always right, can be as, if not more, dangerous.
Assertiveness from a crew member that results in disharmony, as may have
been the case here, is the antipathy of what we should be about. Let's
get back to the basics of why we're interested in CRM at all.
