Please don't limit your thinking about the envelope to those areas close
to the ground and CFIT. Consider the aircraft that have exceeded the
envelope and the results were catastrophic. It can, and does, happen in
flight. We still don't know what has brought down the 737s (427, etc.).
Because of such events, the FAA has requested carriers to conduct
Selected Event Training.

By the way, to say that it "rarely saves" is not acceptable to me. I
don't want to be one of the people that didn't make the cut.
