Dear Greg,

Being a simulator instructor with over 8000 hours of teaching ab-initio
students I think the first goal should be better performance during
training, using the same tools as later with CRM on the flight deck.
Isn't it all about tuning up your own performance by making yourself aware
of your own, till then unaware behaviour? To learn how to improve your
performance, it's important to understand it.

As I see it you can do exactly the same thing in any compex environment
were certain performances are demanded. If you want to improve your
functioning, start with knowing how you function, and use that knowledge to
improve it.

Maybe this isn't what you ment but this is what I understood of your question.
