CFIT study

I am doing a review for a CFIT paper. I know there as been lots of high
tech research on CRM issues with respect to glass cockpits, etc. I was
hoping to focus more on the visual illusion aspect with landings at night
or over water where there was very little outside reference. This is
especially an issue for GA and commercial traffic overseas where there may
not be much background lighting form towns. Does anyone have recommended
research studies on the topic of CFIT and visual illusions or lack of
visual reference. Of course, the logical solution is to fly a publish
approach, if available.
