This is about CALLOUTS related to Flight Control Panel manipulations
(Mode Selector Panel for some aircraft).
I would be interested in discussing the callouts used when
manipulating the FCP. I believe there are many different FCP
callouts in use, for example:
- SELECT/ENGAGE/ON for engaging autopilot/autothrottle
- ARM/PRESELECT for arming/preselecting some approach mode
- DISENGAGE/OFF for disengaging autopilot
- SET/SELECT for setting heading-bug/speed/altitude
Does anyone know of any systematic approach to the FCP callouts? It
would appear to me that an operator could choose to use certain verbs
for certain systems or for certain hand movements (e.g. rotating,
pushing, pulling etc.).
Does anyone know of any research done in this area? What kind of
approaches are taken by different operators? What kind of FCP callouts
are used? Are the FCP callouts often standardized in company scale?
