Eion, There is an abundance of information on the web as others have already shown. Also, there is a program at Quantas called HEAR that you might want to look into. My contact at Quantas is John Fitzpatrick, Senior LAME ( jfitzpatrick_at_quantas.email.com). KLM has a new program as well. Contact Wouter Kunz: +31 20 649 69 05. Another European maintenance human factors program is alive and well at Team Aer Lingus. Contact: Des Gaynor desg_at_indigo.ie
Northwest Airlines has had a program specifically designed for maintenance since 1995 and I would be glad to talk to you about what we're doing. Continental, US Airways, United, TWA, BF Goodrich Aerospace, Transport Canada, and others also have done wonderful things in the area of human factors. The FAA is working on a document called, " Introduction to Maintenance Resource Management" and the ATA is drafting a specification on implementing human factors programs into aircraft maintenance organizations. I have more contacts for you. Just e-mail me and we can talk.

I am about to become involved in assisting with the development of a
syllabus of training for Human Factors in Aircraft Maintenance.
The process is to be designed as part of the regulatory standards for
licensed aircraft maintenance engineers and those aspiring to become
aircraft maintenance engineers.
I realise that this forum is geared towards aircraft 'drivers' and their
interaction with each other rather than aircraft 'fixers'. However,
some of the basic philosophies will be similar.
I have tried in vain to search the electronic ether for information
specifically aimed at aircraft maintenance personnel. Can anyone tell
me if there is information available or this new ground for the aviation
human factors community?
Thanks in anticipation of being inundated with data.
Eion
