Dear CRM'ers

In response to Vince's question about the learning style of experienced
aviators:

There exists some relevant research regarding learning styles among
aviators. Moore and Telfer has written a chapter called "Pilot's
approaches to learning" in the excellent book "Aviation Instruction and
Training" (1993, Ashgate). Their starting point is the huge amount of
theory and research on approaches to learning, which clearly shows that
there are different approaches to learning among students in general.
Telfer and Moore examines approaches to learning in two pilot
populations - student pilots and experienced aviators. Without going in
to details, the results shows that the learning style among
professionals is different than among student pilots, and the authors
stress that the delivery of the training content has to take this into
account.

The book "Aviation Instruction and Training" is highly recommended.
There is always a need for knowledge and facts about aviation training
theory - this book is a good resource.
