A couple of the web references in my previous posting will not work or will
not make sense. The cut and paste function did not cooperate and I didn't
check them before sending the email. I have corrected them so you can use
the web references in this posting for your search on performance markers,
metrics, and crm philosophy.
Sorry about the false start.

Geert ,
There have been some excellent discussions over the past couple years on
this developers group regarding behavioral markers, metrics, performance
indicators and the general philosophy of CRM. Below is a list of
references to the developer's group web site that you will find useful for
addressing your question. You will need a web browser and internet access
to review these resources.
Dave Wilson provides and excellent recap of several months discussions on
metrics at:
http://www.caar.db.erau.edu/crm/maillist/summary/metrics.html
I think you will find very few flight operations departments use the UT
Line Los tool. Most start with a basic set of performane markers like the
lists offered below then tailor their own culturally correct skills list.
Most airlines, particularly the ones in AQP, have developed their own
tailored CRM skill lists that are far more useful. There is an excellent
list of pilot performance indicators developed by the Chief of Standards at
10th Air Force. It is probably the best list of performance markers that I
know of.

John Bent from Cathay Pacific graciously offered his company's measurement
tool for CRM. Unfortunately, the attachment was in Word 97 so it appears a
bit scrambled on the web site archive. Perhaps, John would be willing to
post the Cathay markers in HTML. The web reference for John's contribution
is:
http://www.caar.db.erau.edu/lists/crm-devel/Nov_97/0052.html
A year earlier, John Bent offered some insight into the use of performance
markers at:
http://www.caar.db.erau.edu/lists/crm-devel/Nov_96/0043.html
There was a recent discussion on CRM for small flight departments. In the
following posting, you will find a strategy for low cost CRM for small
flight departments as well as another list of performance indicators (crew
skills list) used by the USAF.
http://www.caar.db.erau.edu/lists/crm-devel/Apr_98/0189.html
There was a discussion on the need for performance markers for cabin crews.
The following discussion highlights how to develop your own set of crew
performance markers.

Listed below are a few useful discussions on metrics that were revealed in
my search of the discussion archive:

Early in the developer's group history, we had some extended discussions
about where the past 10-15 years of CRM has taken us along with our vision
of the future. You may find the discussions around October 96 fairly
useful. For example:

We also had some excellent discussions a couple months ago about error
management. I think you will find some useful insights about CRM
philosophy in the past month's error management discussions. You can find
some of these discussions at:

If you are still hungry for more, you may want to read a paper that I
co-authored with some Delta safety folks about integrating CRM and Human
Factors into an organization. It offers some basic philosophical
cornerstones upon which a program can be built. It also offers a macro
level view of the utility of CRM and Human Factors to an organization.
You can view the paper at:

I hope that these references provide a starting point for your research.
We would be interested in your thoughts after you review some of these
