Good Evening,

In reading Ron Clark's post on TRM, I was struck by the similarity between
"Total Resource Management" and "Total Quality Management" or TQM. I am
sure most of you are familiar with this model of corporate management, and
its Baldridge awards that hail TQM oriented companies and programs. I am
curious if this is chance or not, but could it be possible that, (1)
corporate culture plays a larger role in human factors training than flight
crews realize -- as evidenced by the fact that Ron's TRM evolved from
airline surveys; and (2) that as CRM training courses and models are
developed, care should be taken to customize the models per the culture of
the organization or group being trained.

I think that Ron's re-coining of Crew Resource Managemnt to "Total Quality
Management", and the fact that TRM can also stand for "Team Resource
Management" are pure evidence of the importance of organizational culture as
it pertains to human factors training.

Just a few passing thoughts...
