Hello!
My Airline has very limited experience in CRM training, but , recently
with great assistance of my friend Tony Kern we did intermediate check
of training effectiveness. We considered impact of CRM to SOP adherence,
emergency procedure, Crew coordination on the very first stage of
training on new type of aircraft. We were really impressed by findings..

The first training method considered is so called " visual
participation" The core of this method is showing for trainee video with
most experienced crew flying simulator in normal and non-normal
conditions.Trainee have an opportunity to watch several times with slow
motion crew coordination during malfunction such as fire, emergency
descent with my comments. Than they try to repeat actions on cockpit
mock-up. We do this before simulator sessions. Independent training
captains notes, that new hired pilots, underwent this training have
almost no problem with adopting new crew coordination and there
performance in simulated emergency is about 25 % higher than standard.
They much smoother join revenue flights. Please note those pilots came
from soviet-built aircraft with unbelievable stupid and complicated crew
coordination. We save around 1 hour of simulator time per each pilot. I
showed this data to Aviation Authority and we are granted right to
accept former cadets directly to our B -737 fleet.

Fly safe. Konstantin.
