We have done the canned tape and also used accident tapes for our crews to
rate with the same forms used by our check airmen. If you use one of the
available accident tapes (Dryden, British Midland) the tendency is to rate
everything down because the horrible result is a given. If you use one of
these ask the crews to look for what was done well in spite of the bad
result. Same thing for a tape that is a success such as the American 767
engine fire. What didn't go well? Where would you give a lower rating?
The end game is self- assessment. Gerry
