Further to Guy Smith's response on SA training:

While Guy is correct in noting that the SAIT concept originated at the 1995
Australian Aviation Psychology Symposium at Manly (he was there), for the
record SAIT is based on a cooperative effort between Dr Mica Endsley (USA),
Bob Taylor (UK), Capt Simon Henderson and myself (both Oz). The theory upon
which the workshop is based comes from the work of both Mica and Bob, and
there is a heavy emphasis on group exercises and experiential learning (and
fun).

While the half-day workshop run at Ohio this year was an abridged version,
skewed somewhat to suit the number and type of participants, in its purest
form SAIT is oriented towards operational crews, and aims to raise their
awareness of the concepts of SA, teach them something about individual and
group SA, and provide them with skills to take home that will help them to
guard against loss of SA in themselves and others at work. Reaction to the
Manly and Ohio workshops has been very positive, particularly from
operational personnel. The concept is still under development and we
welcome inputs.

It is likely that a further SAIT workshop will be run at the next Manly
symposium, which is scheduled for March 1998. Anyone interested in
travelling downunder for that can get some preliminary details and register
interest at the AAvPA web site: http://www.nasma.com/aavpa
Thanks,

Brent
