re your question about work on performance decrements in stressful
operations.
we held a conference on 'Decision Making Under Stress' last year and
have just finished putting together a book of the papers that were
presented. There are a number of papers about stress and
decision making in aviation, but also sections on decision making in
military situations and in emergency response (mainly referring to
fire fighting). if you would like some more information about the
book just let me know.
also Rhona Flin has written a book about leaders and teams in
critical incident management which covers both stress and decision
making. it's called 'Sitting in the Hot Seat'. again if you want
more information i can supply it.
