Dear Mike :
Thank you for your message.I am very glad to hear that my comment may
be of any assistance for you and your wife. I truly think the knowledge
and skill of Human factors should be further utilized to solve various
issues which we are usually facing with at the real interfaces between
air carriers and customers(ex.Turbulence,Carry-on Baggages,Sick
Passengers,EMI problems,Evacuation,Unruly Passengers,Inflight Service,
etc.).Cabin crew members are playing an important role in executing
these difficult jobs. They should be more flexible and knowledgeable
since they are currently being expected to be even a risk detector who
should work with flight crew in flight and with maintenance and ramp
staff on ground.Their workload would never fail to be saturated soon if
they intend to satisfy all the requirements.Any restructuring or
revolutional change will, therefore, be needed not only in their daily
work but in the training and educational area. But,never be too
pessimistic! I believe an effective CRM in place of an existing
management style could save the day.In my experience, however, I have
to say the implementation of Human factors and CRM in the real world is
a very difficult and challenging task. Your continuing effort would be
greatly appreciated.
