The FAA had a program called ATTE - Air Traffic Teamwork Enhancement. A basic
three day course tthat taught team-building skills like a quality course
alomost. That ATTE course grew out of the Seattle team training program called
CART - Controller Awareness and Resourse Training. CART focused on
communication, teamwork, and other areas. This program died because of upper
management not fully supporting or funding the program. Again, nothing
mandated at the HQ level. Not sure what the status is of either FAA program.
The folks at Dallas-Ft Worth Center and San Antonio Approach had an excellent
program started with the loving guiding hand and knowledge of the University of
Texas in San Antonio. Amoung others, the help came from Dr. Sharon Jones, and
Dr. Bob Helmrick. That is where I would start. Call the Dallas-Ft Worth
Center and possibly the SW Region. The SW Region has a solid relationship with
Uof T and continues to this day.
The Air Force has an active CRM program for ATC which may prove benificial.
The POC would be HQ AFFSA (Washington DC). Dr. Mark Creasap. If you need more
data please call me _at_ 508-786-9448. When I was on active duty with HQ AFFSA, I
researched and authored, with a great deal of help, the CRM program for AF
ATC....Bob Wood Raytheon
