Subject: Sharjah Accident

Hi Everybody
Recently a Tajikistan Airlines Tupelov 154 crashed about 7 miles short
of the runway while on approach to Sharjah airport in the United Arab
Emirates. the aeroplane was totally destroyed and all on board were
killed, except for the navigator who is now recovering in hospital.
The Director fo Flight Safety for the UAE General Civil Aviation
Authority is an Australian working here under and ICAO contract, and,
like me, he has very little understanding of the aviation system in the
CIS. He is responsible for the accident investigation, and is
interested in contacting anyone who has a better understanding of the
system, and in particular, an understanding of the HF issues and
training in the CIS. If there is anyone who feels that they are able and
willing to assist, could you please contact me at S076123_at_emirates.com
and we will move from there.
Thanks
Bob Upham
