A buddy of mine who flies 737s at USAir described this type of coordination for
CAT II approaches also. This was a couple of years ago. One pilot on instruments,
the other looking for the runway environment. When visual cues for landing were
achieved the "looking" pilot took over and landed, the "instrument pilot"
monitored the panel.
