Fellow Aviation Professionals:=20

Thank you to those that have responded to my initial inquiry. Your =
comments amplify the challenge I face developing Initial LOFT Scenarios =
for ab initio pilot (TC Commercial License with Multi-Engine and IFR =
endorsements, approximately 185 Hrs TT).

As I indicated:

>I am currently building the LOFT program and have found the NASA =
information, available at this site, very useful in writing >both the =
student and instructor's manuals.=20

I have since discovered the LOFT scenario example is missing from =
"Guidelines for LOFT" (NASA 2184) Table 1 pg. 12. This particular paper =
explains the concepts of LOFT in simple and through methods. I would be =
interested in finding a more current brief, as this was published in =
1981. The paper FAA 120-35B provides somewhat of a summary of the =
previous. I also have the ICAO Circular HF Digest No. 2 that provides =
my only example of LOFT scenarios at this time.=20

The "Facilitating LOS Debriefings" appears to be an excellent resource. =
I am wondering if I should incorporate this guide into the student=92s =
ground school course so they may have a complete understanding of what =
we are trying to achieve and how the exercise can be enhanced by their =
full participation. I am also considering having them design LOFT =
scenarios based on the template I create.

Regarding my:

>=85 an inventory of event triggers that can be categorized to degree of =
complexity and then selected appropriate to the lesson >plan and the =
progress of the crew. ... lesson plans that will not be procedurally =
intense and will be generic in format so as to >make facilitation less =
complicated.=20

This personal concept is based on my attempt to provide the facilitators =
of this program, who have no line experience, a simple frame work to =
build upon. They will be using a new B200 FTD with a full visual =
package. The plan is for the selected facilitators to gain experience =
operating this equipment over a six-month period. Then the student =
program on the FTD will start, with 20 Training Hrs split PF/PNF. =
Followed by the same for LOFT. Note that there is some flexibility to =
expand both student programs. My scenarios will be fairly basic with =
the object of understanding the applications of CRM skills. I thought =
that an inventory of event triggers would provide the needed variety, =
where numerous city pairs might become a logistic nightmare, i.e. pubs & =
wx packages.=20

Yes, I feel that there is some risk that the objectives of this program =
maybe hampered by the "blind leading the blind". That is why I come to =
this form for your assistance and direction. It is hoped that I can =
minimize the time that this program spends learning by trail and error, =
by adopting your best practices. Please do not hesitate in contacting =
me either through the site or directly with your suggestions.=20

Yes, if my perspective will benefit those challenged by similar =
development barriers.=20
