The buzz word on this side of the Atlantic is rapidly reconfigurable LOFT scenarios. All LOFTs are planned out of and into the same
city pairs. Thus the participant does not know which sceanario he will experience. This has been in response to the scenario being
put on the internet shortly after it has been designed and tried on the first pilots.
When I visited Annsett a few years ago they had the scenarios for the next three years in a booklet which the pilots were given. In
the bar after the session I heard a group of pilots discussing the scenario. Asking where each had landed etc. The classroom
learning had been carried to the "line"pilot"'. Harry are you still doing it this way.
Initially we changed the scenario every three months based on the pilots getting a simulator every quarter. The first two hours was
a two leg LOFT (one for the Capt and one for the F/O) and the second two hours hands and feet. We now have them come to simulator
for two days for two sessions each six months. The first day is hands and feet the second day is a two leg LOFT. The following six
month session is hands and feet the first day and a IFR/PPC renewal on the second day.
Question: We require that the pilot be on the aircraft for one year before he enters the LOFT program. That is he doesn't start
LOFT until he has flown the aircraft for 18 months. Does anyone else have a qualifying year?
